At Bay Area Church of Christ, we’re here to follow Jesus as the one Lord of our lives. Why do we follow this man? Why do we call him our king? When he came into the world, he changed everything. “In him was life, and that life was the light of men.” Here are just a few of the reasons we follow him: •  The historical record of his life is validated far beyond many widely accepted historical figures. •  Those who knew him and his teaching testified to his miracles and his resurrection and then “turned the world upside down” and changed the course of history. Their lives are a highly credible testimony. •  The coming of the Messiah was predicted in startling detail in Jewish scriptures that also have extensive historical and archaeological verification. •  We observe that Jesus’ life was completely consistent with his words. •  Jesus’ teachings and life were… --  Closely related to the Jewish law—in fact, the fulfillment of it. --  A major departure from Jewish tradition. --  A revolutionary system of ethics. --  Understandable to almost everyone. --  So deep they may be pondered for a lifetime. --  A total rejection of religious hypocrisy. --  Life-changing—then and now. --  He offered real hope for real people. •  Ultimately, the establishment killed Jesus, as he predicted. He rose from the dead and told his disciples to wait in Jerusalem for power from God, then preach the message to the whole world. •  What happened next undeniably rocked civilization and reverberates today. •  The complete message was preserved in scripture and remains as compelling today as ever.
