Welcome to Faith Lane
We took a fresh look at Sunday School with today’s kids in mind. Our vision was to help children get
excited about learning God’s Word.
This led us to build Faith Lane—a street with fun shops where kids experience Bible stories in engaging
Children visit Faith Lane’s shops with others of their own age—from four years through grade six. Each
group is hosted by a Tour Guide who leads them on a five-week journey focused on one inspiring section
of the Bible. Younger children-- two- and three-year olds—meet up at the “Zoo,” where they learn basic
Bible concepts for preschoolers.
This Month on Faith Lane: Esther
"For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” - Esther 4:14...Truth Theater: Travel back in time with a video on Esther...Bay Area Bistro: Purim Feast (Roasted game hen and fruit delicacies)...Bible Museum: Learn about Esther by going to the Word...Arcade: review concepts through games such as pinko and basketball.
The five shops include the Theater, Bay Area Bistro, Creation Station, the Bible Museum, and the Arcade.
The shops are designed, decorated, and “propped” to reinforce their themes.
The shopkeepers are teachers who run their shops and help the children experience the story with age
A child who participates for five weeks masters a great Bible story by interacting with it in five special
ways. For example, the Theater teaches the story using films and skits, while the Museum brings history
alive with relevant physical objects and acting out of the story. At Creation Station, children learn more
and complete arts and crafts related to the Bible story, often expressing their personal visualization. At
the Bistro, children cook or bake a food that’s related to the story to gain cultural understanding and a
sense of the story’s connection to the real world. To test or expand their knowledge, kids have fun
playing story-related games at The Arcade.
Faith Lane is directed and managed by our Children’s Minister, Angela Manley, an experienced educator
and mother with a passion for training children of all ages to understand God’s Word and its many
blessings. Shopkeepers and Tour Guides are mature Christians with significant experience in our
Visits to the shops take place on Faith Lane at Bay Area Church of Christ every Sunday morning from
10:00 to 10:45 a.m. and Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
